The cocktail that made me a whiskey drinker

Who's THIRSTY? I cannot stop raving about this cocktail. Refreshing. Check. Delicious. Check. Super Easy to make. Check, check, check. We discovered TX Whiskey upon arriving in Fort Wort, Dylan fell immediately in love with the product and while I was obsessed the team, I had yet to find my Whiskey drink of choice. When I tasted a similar drink on our first visit to the TX Whiskey Tavern I knew I found it. I have now been converted to a Whiskey drinker for life. If you think you don’t love Whiskey I triple-dog-dare you to try this recipe and not fall in love. I served this recently at my besties baby shower and the ladies were reaching for refills of this delectable nectar of the Gods over summertime favorite Chardonnay. Keep reading for all the details.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 10 cups water, divided

  • 1 pound sliced strawberries

  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice

  • 2 cups TX Whiskey (if you want to turn it up a notch)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix 2 cups sugar with 2 cups water in a small sauce pan and bring to a simmer. After the sugar dissolves, turn off and let cool.

  2. In a small blender combine the simple syrup, lemon juice, and strawberries. Blend until smooth.

  3. In a pitcher combine the strawberry mixture, remaining water, and TX Whiskey.

  4. I like to serve the lemonade with a bottle of Whiskey on the side in case someone wants to add a little more “kick” to their cocktail.

The High Class White Trash Version

Short on time? Grab a gallon of Chick-fil-a lemonade and simply pop a handful of strawberries, a cup of water, and a packet of Truvia into the blender. Presto. Mix with lemonade and Whiskey and you have a high class drink and no one needs to know it started in a plastic jug.
